Development tools
What the project is built with: tools on the developer's machine. They never ship inside the product.
These are the tools the project is BUILT with, not the ones that ship inside the product. They live on the developer's machine and never reach your visitor. The Tools section is about something else: ready-made pieces you can take into the application.
The order is deliberate: first the tool you can do without, last the one you cannot. Install them in this order and mark each one when it is done.
A browser for the agent
The Claude extension for Chrome gives the coding agent eyes: it opens a page in your browser and looks at the result of its own work. A whole class of defects cannot be found any other way — console errors, behaviour with scripts disabled, the service worker and offline, the page AFTER the code has run. In this project that is how nine errors on every page were found, and somebody else's error message standing in place of a video.
The boundaries are stated plainly: the agent never enters keys, passwords or payment details, never creates accounts or signs in to yours, never pays or accepts terms. So «make me an OAuth client in the Google console» or «set up Stripe» will not be done — that is your hand. It will walk you to the right screen, explain the fields, and verify the result after you enter it.
Claude Code — the agent that writes the code
This panel configures the project; Claude Code is what actually builds it. It runs in the terminal on your machine, reads your repository, writes and changes files, and can work inside your editor as an extension. Without it you have settings and nobody to act on them.
It runs on YOUR machine, not on this server. It works with the copy of the project you pull to your computer, and its usage is billed to your Anthropic account — this panel neither pays for it nor sees it.
Visual Studio Code — where you see the project
A free editor for your machine. It is where you see the project as a whole — every file, every change, the difference before and after — and where Claude Code can live as an extension instead of a separate terminal window. This is the tool you cannot do without: without it the project stays a black box you can only ask about.
Any editor you already use will do — the panel does not check which one. The mark below says “I have an editor”, not “I have this exact program”.
The list will grow. Only what genuinely solves a task and has been proven in real work belongs here — not everything that can be installed.
